Team Xtreem takes DDR3 beyond 2 GHz.

Team Group might have missed our recent DDR3-1333 shootout, but that doesnò€™t mean the company isnò€™t moving forward: Itò€™s DDR3-2133 provides the highest data rate weò€™ve yet seen. Rated at CAS 10 using 2.1 volts, Teamò€™s Xtreem PC3-17000 modules use custom heat spreaders to increase cooling, stability, and visual appeal. Beside it were Xtreem DDR3-1866 CAS 8 and DDR3-1600 CAS 7 modules, all available in 2x 1 GB sets. Buyers not quite ready to take the DDR3 plunge might instead be interested in the firmò€™s Dark series DDR2 sets, available in 2x 512 MB, 2x 1 GB, and 2x 2 GB kits. Enhanced CAS 5 latencies at DDR2-1066 and CAS 4 at DDR2-800 promise to keep these "old standard" modules at the forefront of PC performance. Team Xtreem is available at data rates up to 2133 MHz Dark series DDR2 offers enhanced latencies at 800 and 1066 MHz

Defcon 2006: The man behind the Defcon badge.
Las Vegas (NV) - This year"s Defcon computer security convention had a high-tech badge for an equally high-tech crowd. The circular badge was a colored circuit board complete with a small computer chip, battery and two blinking LED lights. Defcon staff wanted the badge to be difficult to counterfeit, but easy enough to add some interesting hacks.

ATI R520 to be available in mid-3Q.
ATI Technologies expects to begin volume shipments of its 90nm graphics processing units (GPUs), the R520, R530 and RV515, in the middle of the third quarter, as unspecified issues for manufacturing on 90nm technology will soon be solved, according to ATI Taiwan. ATI also plans to introduce another flagship chip, the R580, in early 2006.
