Nvidia releases PCI Express-based Quadro family.

Nvidia today introduced four new Quadro professional graphics solutions based on PCI Express. Leveraging this next-generation bus architecture, teh firm doubled the bandwidth of its AGP 8X-based products to over 4 GByte per second in both upstream and downstream data transfers. With the new Quadro FX 3400 high-end graphics model, the firm enables system builders to assemble the ultimate scalable, 64-bit powerhouse by configuring multiple graphics subsystems in a single workstation. The new professional graphics hardware will be widely available in workstations from Dell Computer, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, and HP, among others, Nvidia said. The new PCI Express product line includes next to the Quadro FX 3400 the FX 1300, and FX 330 for 3D applications, as well as the Quadro NVS 280 for professional 2D applications. Microsoft has met its self-imposed deadline to deliver Community Technology Previews (CTP) to Microsoft Developer Network subscribers. Last month Microsoft told attendees of the VSLive conference that it would deliver the bits designed for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 before the end of March.
