Nvidia intros 512 MByte GeForce 6800 Ultra.

Nvidia expanded its product lineup with two new news graphics processors for the high-end and the low-end. As an answer of ATI"s recently shown 512 MByte Radeon X850, the company announced that it is shipping a version of its GeForce 6800 Ultra with 512 MByte GDDR3 memory to card manufacturers. The second new model is an AGP version of the 6200. Both cards will be available in April. Pricing has not been announced yet, the 6200 however should come in at less than $100 and we would expect the 512 MByte card to be available in limited quantities with street prices to be substantially above the current 6800 Ultra levels of $500 - $600. Seoul (South Korea) - According to The Chosun Ilbo, a leading South Korean newspaper, Samsung Electronics will be switching its 512 Mb mobile DRAM to 90 nanometers in the near future. The amazing growth in cellular phones and other portable gadgets that use this memory, has put pressure on memory makers to increase production. The smaller size helps phone manufacturers make smaller and more power-efficient phones.
