LG Display Develops Elliptical And Circular-shaped LCDs.

  LG Display announced it has developed the worldð€™s largest 6-inch elliptical and 1.4-inch circular-shaped LCDs, moving a step beyond the widely-adopted, traditional, square-shaped LCDs and opening the door to for alternative display designs. The 6-inch elliptical LCD measures 78.8mm in height and 131.4mm in width, while the 1.4-inch circular LCD measures 35.5mm in diameter.

Taiwan DRAM Makers To Start Producing 6F Squared DRAM In H2.
While leading DRAM makers from Japan and South Korea migrate their DRAM production to 6F array architecture, DRAM makers are also expected to follow suit in the second half of 2008, according to industry sources. Elpida Memory is to introduce the new array architecture on 68 nm from the third quarter of 2008, whereas Qimonda will also start using the new architecture design on its 65 nm process in the same period, according to the sources.

Nanya: DDR2 shortage to increase to 30-40% this quarter.
With PC OEMs expected to increase their DDR2 penetration rates to 80% by the end of this quarter, Taiwan memory maker Nanya Technology predicts that the DDR2 shortage should increase to 30-40% in February, with related contract prices growing more than 10%, according to company spokesperson, Pei-lin Pai. Although DDR2 penetration rates among PC OEMs are rapidly picking up, DRAM makers are not keeping apace with the strong demand growth, which should exacerbate the DDR2 shortage in February, Pai noted.

RocketGuard 100 monitors temperature, alerts about failing PSUs.
HighPoint Technologies, makers of RocketRAID line of RAID controllers, has released their RocketGuard 100 monitoring card which keeps track of chassis temperature, fan and power supply health. The little card can be mounted anywhere within the computer case and has connectors to HighPoint"s RocketRAID cards and chassis alert LEDs. Using the included software, users can set alert limits and be emailed when a fan fails or when the case reached a certain temperature.
