LCD Monitor Industry Players Believe Demand May Recover In Q4.

÷  Regardless of the disappointing performance of the LCD monitor industry in the first half of the year, industry players are optimistic that the traditional peak season will boost the shipments in the fourth quarter, according to market sources. On the one hand, seasonality will help boost shipments in the second half of the year.

Osram: Efficiency of LED-BLUs to approach that of CCFL starting in 2007.
Osram anticipates the growing adoption of LEDs as a blacklight unit (BLU) light source due to an anticipated increase in LED efficiency, according to Ludwig Ploetz, application engineering manager (OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH) at Osram, on a 25 May 2006 Taiwan FPD International Conference event.Ploetz expects the efficiency of LED-based BLUs to approach that of cold cathode fluorescent lamp- (CCFL-) BLUs starting in 2007.

Speculators Affecting DRAM Spot Prices.
Although the relatively strong DRAM pricing seen recently in the spot market has prompted some industry players to believe that a price rebound is likely, some industry watchers warned that this price improvement may just stem from speculation. Pricing for DDR2 posted a noticeable rebound in the week January 14-21.
