Intel Aiming To Almost Double Notebook CPU Shipments By 2011.

Intel plans to aggressively expand its shipments of notebook CPUs aiming to almost double its total of 2007 within the next few years, according to sources close to the company. Since Intel launched its Centrino platform in 2003, shipments have grown from 38 million notebook CPUs in the first year to 79 million in 2006.

AMD's Yokohama Centrino to surface in Q4.

Chicago (IL) - AMD may be closer to a Centrino competitor than many may have expected. According to a media report, AMD and ATI may be introducing a notebook platform, code-named "Yokohama," in the fourth quarter of this year to compete with Intel"s recently launched Napa64 platform, which includes the Core 2 Duo processor.

US lawmakers seek to ban inefficient lightbulbs.

California representative Jane Harman has submitted a bill to the House of Representatives that would ban inefficient lightbulbs. HR 1547 would ban all lightbulbs that produce less than 60 lumens per watt by 2012. The bill would also require that even more efficient lightbulbs be used in subsequent years.

Now this is an upgrade, Virgin Atlantic frequent flyer converts miles into a space trip.

A north Londoner will be getting the ultimate upgrade with his Virgin Atlantic frequent flier miles. Alan Watts, a former electrician, has amassed more than 2 million miles and has converted them into a space trip on the newly formed Virgin Galactic. He will be one of the first 1,000 people scheduled to fly to 75 miles above Earth.
