ATI and Nvidia gearing up to face Intel's new Broadwater chipsets.

In order to offset the impact of Intel"s planned launch of its Graphic Media Accelerator- (GMA-) integrated Broadwater chipsets by the second quarter of next year, ATI Technologies has accelerated production of its R580, an upgrade of its current 90nm flagship chip, while Nvidia is scheduled to roll out three new 90nm graphics processor units (GPUs) by the latter half of the first quarter of 2006, according to sources at Taiwan graphics card makers. Intel"s upcoming 965-series chipsets, the G965, Q965, and Q963 series all integrate its GMA graphics core.
