Georgia Tech researchers have shrunk an optical device called wavelength demultipler (WD) by combining into one crystal three unique properties of photonics crystals. This optical discovery opens the way to sophisticated and cheap biosensors mounted on "lab-on-a-chip" devices - sensors to run blood tests, detect chemicals in water supplies or for drug testing. MySpace leads in U.S. video streaming.

According to Comscore Media Metrix, a consulting firm that measures the use of digital media, MySpace is currently the top video streaming site in the U.S., at least in terms of the total number of streams initiated. The network of Yahoo sites tops the list on an international scale.

Acorp to withdraw from motherboard market.

Second-tier motherboard makers Acorp Electronics will withdraw from the motherboard market and instead migrate into the production of networking devices such as ADSL2+ modems, the company said after a provisional shareholders meeting on Thursday, March 10.
